Hair Colourants - Information on Hair Colourants

A hair colourant is a product which, when it is applied to the hair will change the colour of the hair. There are four different types of hair colourant, these include: Temporary hair colourant, Semi permanant, Midway hair colourant, Permanent hair colourant. A temporary colour will add colour to the hair but will not lighten the hair. When it is used in the hair it does not require development time to change the hair colour. It lasts for only one shampoo. A semi permanent colour will blend up to 30% of grey hair and add colour. It is not able to lighten hair. The colour needs development time to be effective and will last through several shampoos.

Heena hair dye:

  • Take two hundred grams of heena.
  • One teaspoon of coffee powder.
  • Egg yolk of one egg.
  • One tablespoon of rum/brandy

Mix coffee powder in water. Make a paste of henna with this water. Beat the egg yolk and mix it into henna. Add Brandy to it. Apply the paste and keep it for 3-4 hours before washing with lukewarm water

Walnut hair dye:

  • Take walnut husk about five hundred grams.
  • Water about 500 ml.
  • Boil husk in water for 15 minutes. Strain and use this liquid to dye your hair. It will color brown hair into a darker shade.

Saffron hair dye:

  • One pinch of saffron.
  • About five hundred ml of boiling water.
  • Soak saffron in water for 10 minutes. Strain and use it on the hair. Grey hair will have rich golden shade.
