Foundation makeup tips - How to Apply Foundation

ABC OF FOUNDATION APPLICATION

Gone are the days when a slather of uni-shade panstick saw everyone from snow white to pocahontas through the ABC OF FOUNDATION APPLICATION. Whearas once all we wanted was a way to camouflage our complexions, today's bases are cleverly concocted to enhance our natural skin tone, rather than disguiseit. Facial make-up or foundations are pigmented products intended for application on the face and the neck. You may dilute the foundation by adding some astringent, toner or even water; so that it's sheer enough to let your skin show through...it looks more natural if applied like this.

With the arrival of 'no make-up' (and yes, every woman worth her make-up sponge has heard of it), technologyhas transcended anything we once thought possible -light- reflecting (rej uvenating), light-responsive (day-to-n ight wear) and photochromic (for when you get caught on Kodak) particles mean we can escape the ravages of time for an evening, or even for apicture. No wonder that of all the panoply of cosmetic paints and potionswhich entice us, foundation is the most vital to get right.

Applying foundation:

Apply moisturizer to your face.

Using the flat, smooth surface of round synthetic sponge, pour some foundation on the sponge and apply it in dots and dab all over the face. You can use your finger to apply it.

Blend the foundation in upward and downward direction.

Don't forget to cover the small areas like creases of nose, under your eyebrows and along the jaw line.

To soak up excess oil and for a natural look, blot the face with a tissue after applying the foundation

HOW TO APPLY FOUNDATION

Foundation is always applied downwards, to minimize the impact of facial hair.

1. Take out a small blob of foundation on the palm of your hand. As foundation dries up fast, dot foundation section by section on the face.

2. Start by dotting on the forehead and blend well with a damp sponge on fingers before moving on.

3. Now do it on your cheeks, then chin, nose and upper neck.

Tips on how to Apply Foundation

Here are some perfect tips on applying foundation on face -

  • A lways let a colour sit on your skin for a while, before you decide to purchase it. The acid balance of your skin may change the colour over time - and end up
not being the right shade foryour skin tone.
  • Always check a foundation along the jawline to be certain you will not be left with a tide-mark.
  • Don't want to go all out with a foundation? Tinted moisturizers may be all you need if your complexion is dewy, but you want a light, sheer wash to even out blotchiness.
  • It is important to keep the true texture of the skin, so always try to keep make-up layers to a minimum. For instance, do not use foundation around the
eye area if you know that you will also be using concealer there. Apply foundation only where you genuinely need it.

FOUNDATION LOOK NATURAL

You may dilute the foundation by adding some astringent, toner or even water; so that it's sheer enough to let your skin show through...it looks more natural if applied like this.
