Acne - Info on Acne Symptom, Causes & Treatment

Acne is basically a skin disease typical to youth. The skin gets blotchy and these blotches on the face do never vanish. Even a beautiful face and smooth skin, if affected by acne, loses its charm.

Acne is a deformed type of pimples. Usually, young people pinch the pimples with nails, which results in infection and septic. Pimples dry in a couple of days but the marks remain permanent. It is advisable to consult a doctor for acne because it is a kind of skin infection. It may result in pus pimples due to the presence of infectious bacteria embodied in the pimples.

Pus-pimples can be burst with the help of a sterilized needle. The needle is sterilizedon a flame and the pimple is pierced to its root.The pus is removed by pressing the sides. A clean cloth should be wrapped around fingers for pressing pimples.Pus shouldbe cleaned with a clean cloth and the affected part should be dabbed with a thin solution of hydrogen peroxide.

Causes of Acne

Most of the time the glands make the right amount of sebum, and the pores are fine. But sometimes a pore gets clogged up with too much sebum, dead skin cells, and germs called bacteria. This can cause acne.

• Overproduction of oil (sebum)
• Irregular shedding of dead skin cells resulting in irritation of the hair follicles of your skin
• Buildup of bacteria
• Hormones, primarily testosterone, certainly play a large role.
• A number of other factors, most importantly heredity, are also important.

Symptoms of Acne

There are two types of Acne namely : non-inflammatory and inflammatory

Both of them have some different symptoms like in non-inflammatory acne, there are usually just a few whiteheads and blackheads on the face. A relatively mild type of acne, which can often be treated effectively with nonprescription medicines. This type of acne is found in majority of people. Whereas in inflammatory acne, the whiteheads become inflamed, and red pimples and pustules develop. In its most severe form, inflammatory acne can cause disfiguring cysts and deep, pitting scars of the face, neck, back, chest and groin. Prescription drugs and sometimes surgery are needed to treat inflammatory acne.

Treatment of Acne

Follwoing are the treatment for acne:

• Topical treatments such as retinoids (tretinoin, tazarotene, or adapalene) or antibiotics (benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin)

• Oral antibiotics

• Hormonal medications like oral contraceptives

• Do not scrub or use a loofa. Friction makes acne worse.

• Do not pick or squeeze. This may worsen scarring.

• In severe cases, an oral medication called isotretinoin (Accutane) may be prescribed

• Isotretinoin
