What is Darier's Disease ?

Darier's Disease is a very common type of skin disorders but is very dangerous also. Darier disease is a stubborn rash which usually runs in families. Darier disease is not contagious; that is, it does not spread from person to person. Darier's Disease is an autosomal dominantly inherited skin disorder, characterized by loss of adhesion between epidermak cells and abnormal keratinization. Darier's Disease is an autosmoal dominant disease that typically arises during the first or second decades of life. It involves the abnormal keratinization of the epidermis, moucosa and nails.

Darier's disease is a type of disorder relating to genetical problems , It is a genetic disorder of keratinisation based mainly on hair follicles that is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. It usually presents in the first or second decade of life. Both sexes are equally affected. It is aggravated by sunlight. Darier's disease is known because of dark crusty patches on the skin, sometimes containing pus. The crusty patches are also known as keratotic papules and also called keratosis follicularisis .

1)Itching is very common and little brownish, rough-topped bumps may develop on the skin

4)The rash is often on the chest, neck or upper back at the start but warty bumps may occur on any part of the body including the flexures and skin under the breasts.

5)Pits or small "corns" occur on the palms of the hands and less often the soles of the feet.

6)Fingernails are usually affected. They tend to be rather fragile, split easily and look as if they have been bitten or appear dirty
