What is Dry Skin ?

Dry skin, as the name indicates is a skin realted disorder in which the skin becomes red, scaly and itchy. This condition usually become problematic during autumn and winter season. Dry sin mostly shows its effects on your faces,hands, arms and legs. It has a low level of sebum and can be prone to sensitivity. The skin has a parched look caused by its inability to retain moisture. It usually feels "tight" and uncomfortable after washing unless some type of moisturizer or skin cream is applied. Chapping and cracking are signs of extremely dry, dehydrated skin. Serious skin complications can arise for people with diabetes.

Different Types of Treatment For Dry Skin are available, some are :

  • Alpha hydroxyacid lotions
  • Soap irritates and dries the skin, soap should not be used on your xerotic skin.
  • Keep the skin lubricated.
  • Use lukewarm water, not hot
  • use Cetaphil Lotion or a mild soap to cleanse your skin.
