These cancers could be prevented if we protect ourselves from the sun. Most skin cancers can be prevented by limiting or avoiding exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation and by paying attention to suspicious changes in your skin. If caught early enough, most skin cancers can be successfully treated. Types of skin cancer includes: 1)malignant melanoma - the most serious type of skin cancer 2)non-melanoma skin cancer - more common and easily treated There are a number of different types of skin cancers : some ar every very slow growing and easily treatable, others spread rapidly and are difficult to treat. Some facts about skin cancer you should know: 1. Skin cancer generally occurs either inareas which are frequently injured (like the foot) or on areas which are exposed to the sun (like the face). 2. Skin cancer is more common among the fair-skinned and in those parts of the world where there is plenty of sunshine. 3. It may develop in bum scars, and in old wounds. 4. It can develop in areas of the skin exposed to extremes of temperature; for instance, kangri cancer occurs on the part of the skin which is in contact with the kangri. Treatment of Skin CancerThe treatment depends on the type of skin cancer and how much it has spread- the earlier the treatment is started, the greater is the chance of a complete recovery. Skin cancer can often be cured permanently without any risk of recurrence. The different types of treatments available are surgery, radiotherapy and anti-cancer drugs. Which treatment is used depends on the stage of the cancer and the type of cancer. Treatment of Skin Cancer is as follows: 1) Mohs micrographic surgery 2) Cells are surgically removed or destroyed with topical medications 3) Freezing. with liquid nitrogen (cryosurgery) 4) Laser therapy 5) Curettage and electrodesiccation 6) Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy 7) Protect your skin from UV rays 8) Use sunscreen creams and lotions
